Traveling on our own is in of itself, an escape from our comfort zones. We learn how the Swiss go about their everyday lives. You can’t do that on a guided tour.
A wonderful travel essay, that is so relatable. I imagine that it will motivate your readers (including myself) to go through old photos to revive memories of our own Escape from our Comfort Zones. Thank you for yet another stellar entry in your series.
We've parasailed, too, and there is that marvelous whoosh when one ascends a 100 feet in 3 seconds! Paragliding is quieter and slower and very dreamy. I felt like a bird! Another difference: parasailing requires many people; with paragliding there is just the pilot and his sail.
The idea is frightening but the activity is very serene. The pilot does everything: you just sit there in the quiet air. I do have my limits: I would never go skydiving!
I love the thought of paragliding... I have not been back to Switzerland in 20-odd years... we had to take a sleigh to our hotel because there were no cars allowed... this is making me miss it so. Thank you for the vicarious adventure :)
Great piece! Hope it's the first in a series, love to hear more about your trip :)
Now THOSE are adventures!! A great read.

Thank you so much for this encouragement! I truly appreciate knowing a stranger is enjoying my posts.
That sounds thrilling. The closest I've come to flying free like that is parasailing!

I'm definitely doing this one day. Sounds amazing!
It is a true peak experience!
love this adventure, although paragliding seems terrifying ;)

And thank you for reading and commenting! If you get back to Switzerland you can paraglide in the little town of Murren.
